building futures: phase II
Hugh K. Schilling Math and Science Center
The Hugh K. Schilling Math and Science Center will be a signature piece of our Upper Schoool program, enabling our students to extend and enrich their quantitative studies through an innovative program that blends science, engineering, computer science, and math.
The new Math and Science Center will run north along Davern Street and connect to the SPA's historic Old Main via a two-story glass passageway. The new construction of 38,977 square feet will increase space for math and science by 14,000 square feet. This includes a learning area increase of 127% for science and 110% for math.
UPPER SCHOOL RENOVATION
In addition to the Hugh K. Schilling Math and Science Center, SPA will completely renovate the entire Upper School through new construction and extensive remodeling of current facilities. The renovation of 28,393 square feet will provide new classrooms for the Humanities and World Languages.
The Upper School renovation will include a complete interior renovation of Old Main, constructed in 1916, and a complete interior renovation of the 1970 addition, including the library and current math and science wing. In total, the 28,393 square feet renovation will provide new classrooms for the Humanities and World Languages.
