M.A.T., Hamline University
Middle and Upper School English teacher and department chair Andy Hueller joined the SPA faculty in 2006. Mr. Hueller finds particular satisfaction in watching students discover their way into books and develop their writing voices. He derives inspiration from "working with talented students and colleagues who help challenge my own ideas and ways of looking at the world." A college tennis player and a lifelong sports adorer, Mr. Hueller has coached middle- and upper-school basketball and JV tennis at SPA, experiences from which he has gained the opportunity "to see kids push themselves in situations related to but not the same as those you find in the academic classroom." Mr. Hueller holds a B.A. in English from Hamline University and an M.A. in Teaching, also from Hamline. He is the published author of two children’s novels, Dizzy Fantastic and Her Flying Bicycle (2010) and Skipping Stones at the Center of the Earth (2011), and a young-adult novel that teaches essay writing, How I Got Rich Writing C Papers. He is proud that his play, an adapted Dizzy Fantastic, will debut as the Huss Center’s very first show in fall of 2015.
