Chris Collins teaches seventh grade life science and eighth grade technology innovations. “Developing and implementing new research-based curriculum is one of my favorite activities,” she says. “I have always loved everything about learning. Working with students is rewarding and I enjoy the opportunity to learn with and from them.” Mrs. Collins works closely with students to set goals, give feedback, and explore individual interests. Since joining the faculty in 2000, she has coached the school’s winning robotics team, was the Middle School technology coordinator, a sixth and seventh grade team leader, taught 6th and 7th grade mathematics and was the Middle School yearbook advisor. She has taught at Tesseract School, in the Bloomington and South Washington County schools, and has taught at the university level. She earned a bachelor’s in education from Wisconsin State University River Falls, attended the library technology master’s program at Mankato State University and earned an M.Ed. from Minnesota State University, Twin Cities. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Science Teachers Association, and the Minnesota Science Teachers Association. Outside the classroom, she enjoys biking, sailing, knitting, cooking, and music.
