Other Information

K-12 Learning Specialist Sarah Davies turned her focus from a clinical setting to education when she “realized that the day to day work I could provide for students can make a profound impact.” As an advisor and facilitator for the Learning Differences Student and Parent Support Groups, a member of the K-12 Administrative Team, and a member of the K-12 Parent and Student Support Team, Davies’ “day to day work” touches a number of SPA students and parents alike. She joined the SPA community in 2007, bringing an array of school psychology experience, including a Master of Education degree from the University of Wisconsin—River Falls, previously held school psychologist positions in Bellevue, Washington and Whidbey Island, Washington, a school psychologist position in Stillwater, Minnesota and a Parent Outreach Coordinator position with the Wilder Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota. With particular academic interest in the areas of academic skills development, resilience and special populations, Davies is truly in her element when she “works individually with students and parents to help them understand the hurdles they face academically and how best to overcome them.” One of the things Davies has enjoyed most at SPA besides “the daily interactions with students and highly professional colleagues that surround me” is senior speeches: “When I am fortunate enough to attend senior speeches I often walk away feeling very grateful to be part of such an excellent educational setting.” In addition to being an avid traveler (she's traveled throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and has a special affinity for the Western United States), Davies spends the bulk of her time away from school engaged in outdoor activities like skiing, hiking and running.
