M.A., Hamline University
Kathryn Campbell teaches journalism and advises the state and national award-winning publications: The Rubicon/RubicOnline news, Aureus feature magazine, Ibid Yearbook, and Iris: Art and Literature magazine. Ms. Campbell was named the 2015 MN Journalism Educator of the Year. “It’s a tremendous gift to be able to design a classroom where student voice, collaboration, and decision making drive everything we do,” she says about the journalism program. Ms. Campbell earned a B.A. in English and Communication Studies and Theater Art from Concordia College in Moorhead and an MAEd in Education from Hamline University. “It is my job to encourage students to set goals and stretch their minds to embrace new learning,” Ms. Campbell says. "And the journalists' learning, from beginning journalist to top editor, is real-world, high-stakes, clearly-visible in the building: in the students who read and discuss our work and in the community as they see themselves reflected in our reporting.” Ms. Campbell joined the faculty in 2007.
