Our Faculty

Our Upper School teachers blend a passion for teaching with disciplinary expertise and a genuine compassion and affection for the young adults who are their students. Upper School students largely view their teachers as subject experts and mentors rather than authoritarian figures, a view that makes the ultimate transition to college much smoother.

80% of our Upper School teachers hold advanced degrees in addition to the baccalaureate degree, and almost half of those teachers hold a doctorate or terminal degree in their field of study.

Anne Marso joined the St. Paul Academy and Summit School community in 2006 after working in admission at St. Olaf College. She brings to her admission work a strong interest in diverse cultures and in fostering multicultural education. Anne is particularly interested in making SPA accessible to all families and appreciates SPA’s commitment to a community that is diverse in socioeconomic backgrounds. Anne values the time she spend with families and children who are interested in learning more about an independent school education, and she enjoys watching new students gain confidence and go on to thrive at SPA. She holds degrees in social work and family studies from St. Olaf College. In her free time, Anne enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the Twin Cities, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and enjoying every day with her husband Patrick and her sons, 3 year old Ben and and 1 year old William.
