Senior captain Molly Fiedler '15 is back on the Spartan pitch for the 2014 season after taking a year off to play with her club soccer team. This marks Fiedler’s fourth season on varsity and it has been one for the record books.
As a team leader and fearless competitor, Fiedler’s accomplishments are plentiful. Currently, she is first in the state in assists (16), second in points (46), and seventh in goals (15). The dominant midfielder has set new school records this year, claiming 66 career goals and 50 career assists in her 4 years of Spartan soccer. She was also named to the All Metro team in 2012 and the All State team 2011 and 2012 (this year’s honors have not been named yet).
“It has been wonderful to watch Molly develop and succeed over the last five years," says Ben Bollinger Danielson, varsity girls’ soccer head coach. “Molly is a dynamic player who is a joy to watch play. She plays at a high speed with exceptional skill and is a generous teammate who sets up scoring opportunities for others.”
Two games remain for the team in the regular season, and Fiedler’s leadership in the midfield will be essential to the team's successful post-season. Next year, Molly will continue her soccer career as a Gopher at the University of Minnesota. Congratulations Molly and go Spartans!
