In addition to the thirteen SPA National Merit Semifinalists named in early September, the Class of 2020 now has three additional members who have earned National Merit recognition. Congratulations to Maddy Breton, Quinn Christensen, and Sam Steinhacker, who were recognized with National Merit Commended Student honors. The three Commended Students bring the total of seniors who have honored by National Merit to 16, which represents 18% of the Class of 2020.
Commended Students are recognized as those in the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 competition by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). "Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," said a spokesperson for the National Merit competition. "We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
