SPA sophomore and Spartan defenseman Michael Bagnoli '21 has been selected for the 2019 USA Hockey Boys Select 16 and 17 National Player Development Camps, to be held in Amherst, New York this summer. As a selectee, Michael joins other top boys’ hockey players from across the state to represent Minnesota following their performances at the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Final 54 Festivals held earlier this year.
“We’re excited to announce the players that will be representing Minnesota at the national camps this summer,” said High Performance Director, Mike MacMillan, in the Minnesota Hockey press release. “This is a great moment in each of their young careers. It will be an opportunity for them to train with and against the best players in the country.”
"This is a great opportunity for Michael," said Spartan boys' head hockey coach Eddie Wynne, who calls Michael "an offensive defenseman" because of his skill with the puck. "Michael has exceptional vision and understanding of the game," Wynne said, "and we will be looking to him for strong play on the ice and leadership off the ice for the next two years."
The CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Programs are conducted in conjunction with USA Hockey and are referred to as “Select” programs in other parts of the country. The national festivals/camps are used by USA Hockey to identify the top performers in each age group for possible opportunities to represent the U.S.A. at advanced levels of national and international hockey competition.
