St. Paul United--SPA's cooperative girls' hockey team with Visitation--is heading back to the State Tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The #2-seeded United team beat #1 South St. Paul in a 2-1 nailbiter of a section final on February 14 to secure their trip back to the Tournament.
SPA senior and United goalie Kenzie Giese '19 was instrumental in the team's victory, with 33 saves. “You had to stay laser-focused the entire game, and then as soon as the buzzer went off it was a huge sigh of relief,” Giese said in the Star Tribune's recap of the game.
The State Tournament begins on Wednesday, February 20 at the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul. Tournament seeds and team schedules will be released on Saturday, February 23. Congratulations to the girls and go United!
