After weather-related delays, the Trojan boys' swimming and diving team, a co-op between SPA and Highland Park, competed on Tuesday, February 5 in the St. Paul City Conference Meet and for the fifth year in a row, the team won the Championship title! Noteworthy performances included:
- Diver Aidan Lanz '20 took second place.
- The Trojan 400 freestyle relay (which included two SPA swimmers, Noah Rice '20 and Cesar Gallagher '20) broke the conference record by 2 seconds, with a record time of 3:18.82.
- The same relay missed another conference record in the 200 freestyle relay by a heart-breaking 0.02 seconds.
- Rishi Bhargava '24, Tuco Dixon '23, Ian Matenaer '21, Sean Ege Stephenson '21, Aidan Lanz '20, Henry Cheney '20, Henry Vliestra '20, and Will Zhao '20 led the JV squad to a first place overall finish, with firsts in all three relays.
Next up: The Trojans will swim in the Twin City meet, a matchup between the St. Paul City Conference Champs and the Minneapolis City Conference Champs. The Trojans were the Twin Cities Champions in 2015, 2016, and 2018. The team is also preparing for the section meet which will begin on Thursday, February 21 at Art Downey Aquatic Center in Edina.
