On Friday, February 1, boys' hockey played local neighborhood rival Highland Park. The team came out firing the puck in the first half but ran into a hot goaltender. After 22 shots to Highland's 3, the game was tied at zero going into the first break. The power play struck first in the second period as John Becker '21 tipped Will Rathmanner's '20 shot from the point to put the Spartans up 1-0. Towards the end of the second period, Highland evened things up on their own power play. Highland had some jump after that goal and Thomas Kuriscak answered the bell with two great saves to keep it tied after two periods. The third period started and the boys got back to their game. Becker earned his second of the game off a rebound just before Ducan Fleming '20 scored on an awesome pass from Adam Zukowski '19 a minute after Becker's goal to put SPA up 3-1. Finally, Nolan Gifford '19 got a pass from John Lynn and one-timed it past the Scots goalie to bring the final score to 4-1.
