For the fourth year in a row, SPA's online student newspaper RubicOnline has been selected as a finalist for the Pacemaker Awards, known as the "Pulitzer Prize" of student journalism.
The Pacemaker awards are a program of the National Scholastic Press Association. To select the finalists, NSPA judges analyzed and discussed the 200 entries, which were judged in two size categories based on student enrollment. The 44 finalists in the two categories represent 13 states and Taiwan.
“The Pacemaker is the association’s preeminent award,” said Laura Widmer, executive director of the NSPA in the press release announcing the finalists. “NSPA is honored to recognize the best of the best.”
Pacemaker finalists will be recognized with plaques on Thursday, April 25 at the Opening Ceremony of the Spring National High School Journalism Convention in Anaheim and Pacemaker winners will be announced on Sunday, April 27 at the Journalism Educators Association/NSPA's annual convention.
Congratulations to our student journalists!
