On Wednesday, November 14, St. Paul Academy and Summit School senior Blythe Rients signed a national letter of intent to play Division 1 volleyball at for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. The letter-signing ceremony was held at SPA in a room filled with classmates, friends, family, SPA coaches, teachers, and staff. Blythe was a five-year varsity player for the Spartans. She set numerous school records and will leave SPA as the all-time leader in blocks, service aces, digs, and kills (1509). She was also a five-time IMAC all-conference player, three-time IMAC player of the year, American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Minnesota player of the week, Star Tribune player of the week, and 2018 All-State Honorable Mention recipient.
