Abbegail Luhrs will take on the head dance coach position for our co-op partnership with Minnehaha Academy. Luhrs is a South St. Paul native who graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a degree in Sports Psychology, minor in sports management and neuroscience. She has trained all styles of dance from ballet to hip-hop. She was in the national honor society and member of the gold honor roll at South St. Paul where she was a member of the dance team and took home a fourth-place finish at State in jazz! Her dance career then took her to Miami University as part of the D1 Dance Team where she placed in the top 5 at the NDA nationals in Flordia three out of her four years with the team. She served as a counselor at Clearwater Forest School and continues her psychological research.
Kellan Minter, who was a long-term PE sub and head coach for the boys' basketball C team at SPA during the 2017-18 school year, has taken on duel head coaching responsibilities for the Spartan track and field and cross country teams. Minter was a four-year letterman in track and field at Timberline High School in Boise, Idaho. He competed in the 100m, 200m, long jump, and was a member of a school record setting 4x100m relay team. Kellan is a graduate of Boise State University where he began his coaching career at his high school alma mater, coaching long jump, triple jump, and sprints, as well as boys' basketball. After graduating from Boise State with his bachelor’s degree in K-12 physical education, Coach Minter took over as the physical education specialist at White Pine Elementary in Boise. He continued to coach track and field at the high school level and has coached multiple state qualifiers, medalists, and school record-setters.
Eddie Wynn has served as an assistant for the SPA varsity boys' hockey team for the past six seasons and after an extensive head coaching search, Eddie was the overwhelming choice for the Spartans. Eddie graduated from Mount Mercy University with a bachelors in biology and minor in psychology. While there, he also played golf and soccer before joining the golf coaching staff as an assistant. Eddie was a varsity hockey player at St. Thomas for three years and was team captain, and an All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention during his senior year. Eddie served as Head JV Coach at Mahtomedi for two seasons and then moved into an assistant varsity role the following two years before joining the SPA coaching staff. Eddie is the Head Golf Professional and Program Director at the U of M Les Bolstad Golf Club and has been a golf professional since 2000. Eddie has garnered many achievements both personally and professionally including being inducted to Mount Mercy’s Hall of Fame in 2008.
Pablo Campos is the new head coach for the varsity girls' soccer program. Campos is from Brazil and is a native Portuguese speaker who is also fluent in English and Spanish. He most recently served as the Director of Coaching for the Eclipse Select program where they won the MYSA, U18, U17 and PDAChampionship. Campos was an assistant varsity coach at Centennial High School from 2013-2017 and led the team to three state finals during the 2013, 2014, and 2015 seasons. He played professional soccer in Brazil, Sweden, and Greece, as well as in the MLS and NASL leagues, winning multiple awards including PDL Golden Boot and MVP awards in 2007. He also won MLS Cup, MVP and Golden Boot in 2012, and was the all-time-leading-scorer in the modern era in 2015. Pablo attended Fresno Pacific University where he played soccer and earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
