Last year saw historic seasons for boys' and girls' hockey at SPA. The St. Paul United girls' hockey team, a cooperative with Visitation School, made their deepest run in the State Tournament, finishing second overall. The SPA boys' hockey team also had an exceptional season. The Spartans qualified for the MSHSL State Tournament for the first time since the league's inception and finished fourth.

The future again looks bright for the Spartans and United who began the 2016-17 season this month. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 in Class A: the boys' team is ranked #3 and the girls' team is ranked #4 (provided by Let's Play Hockey). Additionally, Spartan boys' hockey received great press this week. The team was featured as the only Class A team in the Star Tribune's "Ten metro teams to watch" article, and Andy Beran '18 and Dev McCabe '18 were featured in the Star Tribune's "Ten metro players to watch" article.

Watch for more news regarding the Spartans and St. Paul United as both teams press to return to the State Tournament. Go Spartans!
