On Tuesday, October 16, girls' volleyball traveled to Providence Academy for their final regular season match. Not only was there an opportunity for each team to build momentum heading into the postseason, but the IMAC conference title was also on the line.
SPA started the match with an early 9-6 lead but Providence fought back with some tough serving and key kills to win the first set 25-21. In the second set, the Spartans again took the early lead but this time, the team finished strong with a 25-17 victory. The girls kept the momentum going in the third set with great defense from seniors Mimi Geller and Mia Litman and some timely kills from senior Blythe Rients to win 25-18. The fourth set was closely contested as the Spartans and Lions each traded points. SPA battled to a 24-21 lead in the final minutes of the match and junior Kathleen Bishop finished off the victory with a block to earn the 25-21 set point. The 3-1 victory secured SPA's second consecutive IMAC Conference title and third in program history.
Next up: The Spartans will most likely begin the Section 4AA tournament on Friday, October 26 with a home game. More details will be available following section tournament seeding. Go Spartans!
