Fifteen SPA seniors earn National Merit Commended honors

Fifteen members of SPA's Class of 2019 have earned "Commended" honors as part of the National Merit competition, meaning that they rank among the top 50,000 scorers of the more than 1.6 million students who took the PSAT in 2017. The fifteen Commended students are in addition to the sixteen SPA National Merit Semifinalists named at the beginning of September; 29% of the Class of 2019 has been honored by National Merit so far this year.

The fifteen Commended students are:

  13. Daven Rock
  14. Iris Shaker-Check
  15. Jonah Spencer

According to the official announcement from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, "The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success...recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation."
