After more than a year of construction, the Hugh K. Schilling Math and Science Center on SPA's Randolph Campus was completed in August 2018, and will officially open for use on Monday, August 27, on the first day of Upper School classes at the school. View photos of the Schilling Center.
Rooted in three years of academic planning and curriculum innovation, the Schilling Center includes almost 40,000 square feet of classroom, laboratory, and collaborative space, including 11 hybrid science laboratory and study spaces, representing an increase of five classrooms and 127% in square footage dedicated to the sciences. The space also includes 6 mathematics classrooms and a large "math commons," representing an increase of two classrooms and 110% in square footage.
"The Schilling Center is dazzling," says Head of School Bryn S. Roberts, "and we are very much looking forward to our students and teachers bringing it to life with the beginning of the school year." All Upper School math, science, computer science, engineering, and robotics classes will be held in the Schilling Center, and faculty offices for those disciplines are now located in Schilling as well.
