For the third year in a row, SPA's online student newspaper RubicOnline, is the recipient of a Pacemaker Award, the highest honor in student journalism. The Pacemaker is a program of the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) and is known as "the Pulitzer Prize" of student journalism.
Pacemaker entries are judged by teams of professionals based on coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership, design, photography, and graphics. The contests are open to any NSPA member publication. Entries must have been published or broadcast during the dates specified on each entry form.
"I am humbled and honored by this national recognition given to our journalists," shared Director of Publications Kathryn Campbell. "[The students'] ability to keep raising the bar for themselves while maintaining the high standards of reporting expected of them makes me so proud."
