For the second year in a row, SPA's Upper School winter one-act production has earned the highest ranking at the Minnesota State High School League's One-Act Festival. The production of Peter/Wendy, a retelling of the "Peter Pan" story, was awarded a "Starred Performance" honor at the February 9 festival, held at the O'Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University. SPA's entry in the One-Act program also earned the top honor in 1994, 2006, 2013, and 2017.
Peter/Wendy director and US English teacher Eric Severson had high praise for all the students involved in the production. "I am so proud of the entire cast and crew!" Severson says. "Throughout the entire process they have challenged themselves as performers and technicians, truly exploring the possibilities and power of nuance, sophistication and creativity in this production." The production also earned raves from the State Festival judges: "[Peter/Wendy] is a total sensory treat!" "ALL the stylistic elements are beautifully executed. Acting is genuine. Creativity is off the charts." "Wonderfully fanciful whimsy!"
