Posted 02/06/2018 03:15PM

Congratulations to Sabrina Rucker '18 who has been selected as a 2018 National Honorable Mention recipient of the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) Award for Aspirations in Computing. National Honorable Mention students represent the top 10% of all applicants.

Each year, over 3600 students apply for the Aspirations Award by completing essay prompts about the student's leadership in technology and how the student plans to use technology to solve problems in the future. Sabrina's essays focused on her interest in cybersecurity and her time last semester doing an independent study on the topic. Sabrina is also the co-president of SPA's computer science club and has been integral in growing the Upper School community's interest in technology.

"I'm so happy to have Sabrina recognized by NCWIT," says Kate Lockwood, Upper Schoool Director of Computer Science and Engineering. "Sabrina is passionate about technology and cybersecurity and has been a leader at SPA getting other students involved in technology."

Way to make SPA proud, Sabrina!
