On Tuesday, October 10, student-journalists from SPA's student newspaper, feature magazine, art magazine, and yearbook attended the Minnesota High School Press Association Convention. The annual conference hosted by the University of Minnesota saw record attendance, with sessions presented by media professionals in the Twin Cities and celebrated advisers. SPA also showed off their expertise with several presentations at the regional conference. Director of Publications Kathryn Campbell moderated a roundtable and presented a Press Ethics session; Mimi Geller (RubicOnline) and Iya Abdulkarim (The Rubicon) facilitated an Editor's Roundtable for newspaper; and Brian Orza (Ibid) participated in an Editor's Roundtable for yearbook.

It was also a day of awards for the Spartans. The highlight of the day was SPA's five student publications each earning a "Best of Show" award, with a special shout out to the Ibid yearbook which earned its first in publication history. By the numbers and across publications, SPA also earned 3 All-State State Gold awards, 2 All-State Silver awards, 11 design/art and photography awards, 10 writing awards, and 3 multimedia awards. There are only 3 Online/Broadcast Categories, and SPA had a winner in every one. See a full list of student awards below.
