The SMB Wolfpack (a co-op between SPA, Minnehaha, and Blake) returned to the Class 4A State Tournament this weekend for the second year in a row. The team earned their state berth by defeating Benilde-St. Margaret's in a come-from-behind victory in the Section 5AAAA Finals.
The Wolfpack's first game of the State Tournament took place on Saturday, November 9 against Chisago Lakes High School. Overall, the team got off to a strong start and never looked back. Superstar quarterback Jalen Suggs accounted for five touchdowns, four of which came in the first half. SPA's Tommy Stolpestad '20 (captain) also rushed for a touchdown in the second quarter. Finally, SPA's Judah Thomas '22 and Joey Stolpestad '23 recorded several key tackles for the team and Charlie Johnson '22 got in at quarterback for a snap. Despite a good second-half push by Chisago, the Wolfpack never trailed and won the game handily, 48-29.
