Fencing can trace its history back to St. Paul Academy and to Summit School prior to the schools merger. Since then, Fencing has been one of the strongest sports winning State Championships in 1984, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998, 2006, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
