2011: SPA and Blake Mark 100 Years of Football

At an October 2011 football game, SPA and Blake marked 100 years of playing football against each other. The day involved alumni/ae celebrations and other events to celebrate the day.

2012: Girls Tennis Dominates

The 2012 girls’ tennis season was a success for the Spartans. Sarah Hays '13 and Gina Nguyen '13 won the state doubles championship and Sonya Das '14 won the singles championship. Das would go on to win her second championship in a row in 2013.

2013: Fencing Wins State

 

In 2013, SPA claimed the state fencing championship and since then has won titles in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. 

2015: Wolfpack Formed

In 2015, the SMB Wolfpack was formed as a co-op football team. The team consists of St. Paul Academy and Summit School, Blake School, and Minnehaha Academy. 

2017: Girls Hockey State Runner-up

After an impressive season, the girls’ United Hockey Team (a co-op program with Visitation) won the Section 4 Championship and qualified for the MSHSL Class A State Tournament where the team finished runner-up in a close final game against Blake.

2018: Wolfpack Claim State Championship

 

The SMB Wolfpack co-op football team won the MSHSL Class AAAA State Football Championship in 2018. The team would return to the MSHSL State Football Championship game for Class AAAA in 2019 where they claimed the runner-up title. 

2018: Annie Hart '10 Makes Olympic Team

Alumna Annie Hart '10 was named to the United States Ski and Snowboard Team for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

2019: Peter Moore '19 Wins State Title

On February 14, 2019, SPA senior Peter Moore '19 skied to a Nordic State Championship and into SPA history. Moore won the Nordic title in a thrilling finish, the first time a boy has been crowned champion in the school's history.

2022: Boys' Tennis Wins State Title

The Spartan boys' tennis team beat Breck 5-2 in the Class A championship match of the Minnesota State Tennis Tournament in June 2022. This was the fifth state title for the boys' tennis program.

2022: Boys' Soccer State Champions

SPA boys' soccer team capped off a remarkable postseason, winning the Class 1A Minnesota State title in a 2-0 victory against St. Anthony Village. This is the Spartans' first State title since 1994 and the program's fifth championship overall.

2022: Girls' Soccer in State Final

For the first time since 2004, the girls' soccer team advanced to the State Tournament where they finished runner-up after a close 3-2 loss to St. Anthony Village. This was the first time that the team reached the State Tournament since 2016.

2023: Boys' Tennis Wins State Title

The Spartan boys' tennis team swept the Class A Tournament 21-0 to win the the Class A Minnesota State Tennis Tournament! This was the sixth state title for the boys' tennis program.

2023: Boys' Soccer State Champions

For the second year in a row, the boys' soccer program won the Class 1A Minnesota State title in a 3-2 victory against Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa. This is the Spartans' second State title since 1994 and the program's sixth championship overall.

2023: Girls' Soccer First State Title

For the first time in program history, the girls' soccer team won the Minnesota Class A State Soccer Tournament with a thrilling 3-0 victory over St. Charles. This is the first state championship for the program.

2024: Boys' Tennis State Champions

For the third year in a row, the boys' tennis program won the Class A Minnesota State title in a 6-1 victory against Breck! In individual state competition, the doubles team of Leo Benson '24/Maik Nguyen '24 defeated Mound-Westonka 6-1/6-2 to capture the Class A State Doubles Title! In an All-SPA singles final Zahir Hassan ’27 claimed the state title and Winston Arvidson '28 placed second.

2024: Track and Field Champions

Elizabeth Tuttle '26 (pictured) and Oliver Thompson '25 were crowned the 2024 Class A State Champions in the Girls’ 300m Hurdles and Boys’ 400m Dash.
