Openings by Grade
Every year, we calculate how many openings we will have in each grade for the following fall. Our calculations are based on past trends, the number of students currently in the grade, and other factors. Please contact any member of the Admission staff with questions about availability in a particular grade or about our waitlist protocols for qualified applicants.
KINDERGARTEN | 32-36 openings. Kindergarten at SPA is a foundational year full of "firsts." Students who enter in K benefit from the full K-12 experience at SPA and the life-long relationships with peers and teachers that are part of the 13-year journey. Kindergarten classes average 16-18 students per class section, with two sections each year.
GRADES 1-2 | 2-4 openings. We have a limited number of openings at these grade levels. Please contact us for more information about Grades 1 and 2.
Grades 3-5 | 4-6 openings per grade. The upper elementary grades are a wonderful time to join SPA. We also strongly encourage families considering SPA for Grade 6 to consider an earlier entry in Grade 3, 4, or 5, since the earlier entry helps prepare students for the Middle School.
GRADE 6 | 25 openings. Grade 6 is a popular and competitive entry point at SPA. The Grade 6 program is designed in part around welcoming students in this grade to SPA and to the Middle School community; this is particularly important since all Grade 6 students, even those who attended SPA in Lower School, are new to the Randolph Campus.
GRADES 7-8 | 5-10 openings. Openings vary, but we do have openings every year in Grades 7 and 8 and strongly encourage families to contact us about particular classes.
GRADE 9 | 25-30 openings. Grade 9 is a popular and competitive entry point at SPA. A robust, full-year orientation program helps all Grade 9 students acclimate successfully to the demands of high school, whether they are new to SPA or have come through the Middle School.
GRADES 10-11 | 2-4 openings. Openings vary, but we do have limited openings every year in Grades 10 and 11 (these openings are dependent on either attrition or relocations among current families). We strongly encourage families interested in Grades 10 and 11 to contact us.
