Ready to learn how to sew and create some awesome sewing projects? In this beginner-friendly workshop, we’ll be sewing cute stuffies, cozy pillows, mini bags, and more! No experience is needed! We’ll learn basic hand-stitching techniques, explore fun fabrics, and allow you to bring your imaginative creations to life—one stitch at a time. Whether you’ve never picked up a needle or you’re already crafting at home, come sew with us and take home your very own handmade sewing creations!

Embark on an epic week of excitement, challenges, and outdoor fun at our Survivor Adventure Camp! Inspired by the hit TV show, this camp is designed to ignite the spirit of adventure, teamwork, and survival skills in our young explorers. Teams will be challenged both mentally and physically in fun activities that include creating, building, and problem-solving.

Ceramic Sculpture (Grades 3-6)

Want to get more time with clay? Spend a week learning about ceramic artists and where clay comes from, and get more experience with advanced hand-building techniques! Students will be able to create, glaze, and take home several pieces by the end of the week!

Lego Creators (Grades 5-8)

Lego Creators is a summer camp for aspiring robotics students or previous year's team members who want to hone their engineering and programming skills but also focus on the core values and creation aspects of LEGO League. Through the course of a week, we will form our own teams, laser-cut banners, and compete in a series of escalating competitions. Each of the teams will compete against one another in drag races and projectile missions and practice planting our flags in relay races. Join us and build your own destiny.

Join us in the art studio as we explore a variety of drawing and painting methods for 2 and 3-dimensional work by exploring mixed media in new and different ways. Intro to Wheel-Throwing (Grades 6-8)

Discover the magic of creating with clay in this fun and hands-on Intro to Pottery camp! Designed for middle schoolers with little or no experience, this camp focuses on the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel. Led by Lower School Art Teacher, Deanna Hartmann, students will learn essential techniques like centering clay, shaping forms, and creating bowls, cups, and other simple pieces. Each day includes demonstrations, practice time on the wheel, and opportunities to decorate and glaze your creations. By the end of the week, students will have unique, finished pieces to take home and a solid foundation in wheel-throwing skills. Join us to explore your creativity, learn a new art form, and have a blast with clay this summer!

Upper School

Collaborative Leadership Institute (Grades 10-12)

Effective group leadership begins with knowing one's own strengths and recognizing and getting the most out of the strengths of others. This one-week workshop is built around developing an understanding of oneself as a leader and as a member of a group. Mornings focus on theory and research, challenging students to explore their own strengths as well as working to understand and assess group dynamics and task needs in a casual, seminar-style setting with activities and discussions. In the afternoons, students will apply these lessons to group challenges that get them out in the community and practicing their leadership skills. Combining experiential learning with a theoretical approach, students will end the week with strategies for collaborative endeavors as well as an understanding of their own strengths and talents. It’s intended to be fun and challenging at the same time. No homework, but you’ll have plenty of food for thought as the lessons build on one another and the tasks demand increasing attention to all the areas of group and self-dynamics we explore. A certificate of participation will be given to students on their final day.

Songwriting Workshop (Grades 10-12)

Explore the basics of songwriting. We will examine traditional forms like the blues, folk songs, and ballads, and look at how they serve as the foundations for so many modern popular songs of today. We will learn how to listen critically by engaging with songs we like and songs we dislike, asking what inspires our strong reactions. Each day, you’ll follow prompts to generate elements of a song (melody, harmony, lyrics, arrangement) and practice bringing these elements together by setting old texts to new music, writing new lyrics for old music, arranging the same song in several different styles, and seeing what it’s like to write with a partner. You will finish the week with a few songs in hand, and the confidence to keep writing.

Debate Institute (Grades 9-12)

Are you ready to sharpen your critical thinking, public speaking, and argumentation skills? Join us for the SPA Debate Institute! This camp is perfect for students new to debate who want to learn about the activity before the school year and returning debaters eager to refine their strategies and prepare for the upcoming season.

Participants will learn foundational skills like constructing arguments, effective rebuttals, and persuasive delivery while gaining insights into advanced strategies and current topics. Each day includes interactive workshops, practice debates, and personalized feedback to help students develop confidence and expertise.

When was the ancient period? How have civilizations evolved? How have cultures within this period influence people today? These are some of the questions we will talk about throughout this interactive camp. Students will learn about a different ancient civilization each day that connect to these core questions.

Shakespeare through the Lens of History (Grades 8-11)

This camp combines both Renissance history and Shakspearean theater with an exploration of 3 plays. In the morinings, students will learn about the historical connections through Shakespears writting, while in the afternoon, students will have an opportunity to read and enact part of Shakspearean plays. This is an active and immersive camp that connects these two disciplines together.

The Cozy Crochet Club (Session 1; Grades 6-9)

Hello and welcome to The Cozy Crochet Club! Whether you've been crocheting for years or have never picked up a hook in your life, we're happy to have you! Creative Writer's Workshop: Put Pen to Page (2 Week Session; Grades 7-9)

Come learn creative writing skills! Whether you’re a beginning writer or a bookworm with a passion for the best books, you are invited to come write with us. Over the course of two weeks students will flex their creative writing muscles and learn tricks of the trade. In the mornings, we will discover different poetic forms and storytelling methods. We will also read short form works from expert writers and have lively discussions about what we want to take from their writing styles. In the afternoons, we will play improv games and challenge ourselves with writing prompts to get the writing energy flowing. Afterwards, we will have dedicated independent writing time. As a team, we will compile a collection of our writing, and after working together to edit and revise, we will self-publish a short anthology of our works. If you’re interested in diving into the writing world, finding great new books and authors, and meeting fellow young writers, this is the camp for you!

Poetry Workshop (Grades 8-12)

Spend a week exploring new ways to write a poem! We will employ unusual methods such as cut-ups, erasures, and other language games, to break through writer’s block and make surprising discoveries. We will get lost in the library, and employ chance operations (like flipping coins and rolling dice) to discover startling new patterns, inspirations, and meanings in our writing. At the end of the week, you will have a toolbox full of new tricks and a folder full of strange new poems.

Roleplaying Games (Grades 6-12)

During this week-long workshop, you will learn to play (or hone your skills) in a game of storytelling and roleplaying, the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game. You can play a chivalrous knight, flashy swashbuckler, mysterious sorceress, or devious thief (or just about anything else you dream up) overcoming challenges using your imagination, your character’s powers, and the luck of the dice. You will learn the rules of the game, how to create unique characters, and how to take on the role of the Game Master, creating exciting adventures for your peers. Whether you've never played before or consider yourself a master storyteller, everyone is welcome.
