St. Paul Academy and Summit School is pleased to announce that The Rubicon student newspaper has earned an All-American ranking from the National Scholastic Press Association for its 2023-24 issues. The staff was lauded by the judges for their focus on reporting on diversity, for the high quality of written reporting, for using dynamic visuals and illustration in page design with multiple entry points, audience appeal, and stellar social media reporting.
“It means a lot to me that the judges specifically noted the outstanding care our student journalists put into their ethical decision-making and their media law policies,” Director of Publications Kathryn Campbell says. “To be called ‘professional’ by judges providing critique to newspapers all across the country is the highest compliment.”
Current Editor in Chief of The Rubicon Annie Zhang '25 says, “I hope our readers find The Rubicon to be credible and insightful while still being thought-provoking. I want them to gain a deeper understanding of the current events that happen every day at SPA or simply find joy through reading about a topic that inspires them. Ultimately, I hope our readers feel connected to the larger community and trust our publication to be a catalyst for curiosity and meaningful impact.”
The 24-25 Rubicon staff was led by co-Editors in Chief Claire Kim ‘24 and Orion Kim ‘24 with visual direction provided by Chief Visual Editor Georgia Ross ‘25.
