Spartan Postseason Update: Spring 2023

Baseball received the #9 seed in section 4AA and lost to the #8 seed, Minnehaha Academy on May 23, 8-5 in the opening round.

All-Conference: Griffin Schwab-Mahoney ‘24

All-Conference Honorable Mention: Ezra Cunningham ‘26, Roberto Velez ‘23, Tommy Verhey ‘23 and Nelson Wodarz ‘23

Boys' Golf

In the second round of section 4AA competition, Connor Overgaard '24 shot 77 (155 over two days) good for a top finish at the section tournament. Connor represented SPA at the state tournament at Ridges of Sand Creek in Jordan on June 14th.

All-Conference: Will Black ‘24, Will Fenlon '25, and George Peltier '23

All-Conference Honorable Mention: Connor Overgaard '24 and Ethan Peltier ‘25

Girls' Golf

Girls’ Golf began section 4AA competition on May 30. All five golfers advanced to the second round on June 1 at Highland National Golf Course. Golfers included Nikola Barkwell ’23, Audrey Peltier ’27, Millie Farrington ’26, Alyda Overgaard ’28, and Peony Steele ’27.

Boys' Lacrosse

TrIMAC Lacrosse received the #6 seed in section 3A and lost to the #3 seed, St. Thomas Academy on June 1, 15-7 in the opening round.

Girls' Lacrosse

Girls' Lacrosse received the #10 seed in section 3A and lost in the opening round to the #7 seed Visitation on May 30.

Section 3A Academic Champions


Spartan Softball received the #6 seed in section 4AAA and lost to the #3 seed Hill Murray 11-1 in the opening round on May 22. In the elimination portion of the bracket, SPA defeated the #7 seed, St. Paul Harding, and the #5 seed, Totino-Grace. In their second matchup against Hill-Murray SPA lost 8-1, ending their season and postseason run.

Boys' Tennis

After a phenomenal season of team tennis, the SPA boys' tennis team was crowned Class A State champions for the second year in a row on Wednesday, June 7. The Spartans beat Rochester 7-0 and swept the tourney with an impressive 21-0 record. I Pioneer Press article I Full story from SPA

In individual state competition, the doubles team of Leo Benson '24/Maik Nguyen '24 defeated Litchfield 6-3/6-1 to capture the Class A State Doubles Title. Additionally, Zahir Hassan ’27 captured the third-place Class A State Title! I Full story from SPA

Track & Field

In the State Meet on June 9, Elizabeth Tuttle '26 qualified for the state final in the 100m hurdles after finishing 7th overall, she also placed third in the long jump (17'02"). In the 100m state final, Elizabeth finished 6th overall (15.50).
