Spartan Postseason Update: Spring 2023

Baseball

Baseball received the #9 seed in section 4AA and lost to the #8 seed, Minnehaha Academy on May 23, 8-5 in the opening round.


Boys' Golf

In the second round of section 4AA competition on May 31, SPA’s team finished third overall in a challenging section with thirteen other schools. Connor Overgaard ‘24 qualified for the state meet after shooting a combined score of 155 over the two days. The individual state tournament will be held on June 13 and 14 at the Ridges of Sand Creek in Jordan.


Girls' Golf

Girls’ Golf began section 4AA competition on May 30. All five golfers advanced to the second round on June 1 at Highland National Golf Course. Golfers include Nikola Barkwell ’23, Audrey Peltier ’27, Millie Farrington ’26, Alyda Overgaard ’28, and Peony Steele ’27.


Boys' Lacrosse



TrIMAC Lacrosse received the #6 seed in section 3A and lost to the #3 seed, St. Thomas Academy on June 1, 15-7 in the opening round. 


Girls' Lacrosse

Girls' Lacrosse received the #10 seed in section 3A and lost in the opening round to the #7 seed Visitation on May 30.


Softball



Spartan Softball received the #6 seed in section 4AAA and lost to the #3 seed Hill Murray 11-1 in the opening round on May 22. In the elimination portion of the bracket, SPA defeated the #7 seed, St. Paul Harding, and the #5 seed, Totino-Grace. In their second matchup against Hill-Murray SPA lost 8-1, ending their season and postseason run. 


Boys' Tennis



With a 5-2 win over MPA on May 20, the boys’ tennis team clinched the section 4A team title and is headed to the State tennis tournament. In individual section competition, the doubles team of Leo Benson '24/Maik Nguyen '24 finished first and are headed to the State doubles tournament; singles player Zahir Hassan '27 is also State-bound after finishing first in the section. All state tennis events will begin on Tuesday, June 6 at the Reed-Sweatt Tennis Center. Congratulations Spartans and best of luck at State! Class A State Tournament Team Information I Class A Individual State Tournament Information


Track & Field

In the track & field section prelim meet on May 31, several Spartans moved on to qualify for the section final meet on Friday, June 2. Elizabeth Tuttle ’26 qualified for the state meet after finishing in 1st place in the long jump, setting a school record of 17'7", and will compete in the finals in the 100 & 300 hurdles. Additionally, Oliver Thompson '25 (200M & 400M), Paloma Good '27 (800M), and Belle Weng '25 (100 & 300 hurdles) will compete in the section finals for a spot at the State Meet which will be held June 8-10 in St. Michael.
