Girls' Tennis

In Section 4A tennis competition, Georgia Ross '25 advanced to the third-place singles match before falling to a Breck student-athlete. The duo of Nellie Larson '26 /Autumn Spaulding '23 also competed in the third-place match but fell to a talented duo from MPA.

Boys’ Soccer

After finishing the regular season with an 8-3-3 record, SPA soccer received the #1 seed in Section 3A. SPA defeated the Nova Knights 5-0 in the quarterfinals, St. Croix Lutheran Academy 4-0 in the semifinals, and Minnehaha Academy 1-0 in the Section Championship on Tuesday, October 18. With the section title victory, SPA advanced to the State tournament for the first time since 2012. SPA boys' soccer team capped off a remarkable postseason in championship fashion, winning the Class 1A Minnesota State title in a 2-0 victory against St. Anthony Village on Friday, November 4, 2022, at U.S. Bank Stadium. This is the Spartans' first State title since 1994 and the program's fifth championship overall.

Girls’ Soccer

After finishing the regular season with a 6-5-3 record, SPA girls' soccer received the #2 seed in Section 3A. SPA defeated Hiawatha Collegiate 8-0 in the quarterfinals, St. Croix Lutheran Academy 2-0 in the semifinals, and Minnehaha Academy 1-0 in the Section Championship on Tuesday, October 18. With the section title victory, SPA advanced to the State tournament for the first time since 2016. The girls' soccer team's exceptional State Tournament run came to an end on Friday, November 4, with a 3-2 loss to St. Anthony Village in the championship game. The team claimed the runner-up trophy, reaching the finals for the first time since 2004.

Volleyball

Spartan Volleyball finished the regular season with an 8-11 overall record. SPA received the #9 seed in Section 4AA and defeated the #16 seed, Hiawatha Collegiate on Tuesday, October 25, 3-0. In the second round, SPA fell to a talented Richfield team 3-0.

Football (Co-Op)

The SMB Wolfpack finished the regular season with a 4-4 overall record. SPA received the #2 seed in Section 5AAAA and fell to a talented Benilde-St. Margaret's team on Saturday, October 29.


Cross Country

In its IMAC conference meet on October 13 boys' cross country placed sixth overall and girls' cross country captured the IMAC Conference title by one point and Taylor Barkwell '25 finished second overall. Paloma Good '27, qualified for the Minnesota State Cross Country meet after finishing 11th (20:07.4) overall at the Section 3AA meet on October 27. In the State meet on November 5, Paloma placed in the top 100.

Girls’ Swimming and Diving  (Co-Op)

In the varsity diving conference finals on October 24, the Sparks captured the top three spots on the podium finishing first, second, and third. Elena Sjaastad ’23 was crowned champion with a diving score of 298.9 and Avi Coleman ’27 and Bella Moet ’27 finished second (283.15) and third (202.50), respectively. At the varsity swimming conference meet on October 25, the Sparks were crowned St. Paul City Conference Champions, edging Central by one point.

At the Section Diving finals on Thursday, November 10, Elena Sjaastad ’23 and Avi Coleman '27 both medaled, finishing sixth and seventh. At Section Swimming finals on Friday, November 11, SPA swimmers, Linnea Cooley '23, Claire Kim '24, Audrey Peltier '27, and Ayla Rivers '23 finished third in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Cooley and Peltier were also a part of the 400 Freestyle Relay team that finished fourth.
