Sawyer Bollinger Danielson '25 will compete for United States Youth Futsal National team

Spartan soccer standout Sawyer Bollinger Danielson '25 has been selected to compete on the United States Youth Futsal National team, which will travel to Spain over Winter Break in December 2021.

Bollinger Danielson is one of ten athletes selected to represent the United States on the team after her performance at state- and national-level tryouts over the summer. During the trip, the USYF national team will compete against some of the world's best futsal clubs and federations; the trip will include a week of training, matches, and cultural excursions. Bollinger Danielson is one of Spartan soccer's brightest talents: a leader on the varsity girls' team as a freshman, she was one of three Spartan girls to be named to the All State team after a stellar 2021 season in which she tallied 13 goals and 6 assists.

Futsal is an indoor version of soccer played by teams of five players each. Matches are played on basketball-sized courts with a smaller, low-bounce ball. With its fast-moving games and emphasis on footwork and technical skills, futsal is popular around the world as a cold-weather alternative to outdoor soccer.

"I am excited and honored that I have the opportunity to go to Spain and represent the United States on the Youth Futsal National team," says Bollinger Danielson. "This is an incredible opportunity to play the game that I love on a national level against other athletes from around the world." She is especially excited to share the experience with her grandfather, who will be accompanying her on her trip: "It will be an experience that we will never forget!"
