RubicOnline named a 2025 Distinguished Site

The RubicOnline has earned 2025 Distinguished Site recognition from School Newspapers Online. While the criteria for selection gets more complex each year, the staff has risen to every challenge, continuously winning the award since its inception in 2017. The SNO Distinguished Site program requires students to demonstrate excellence across multiple areas: quality and timely reporting, audience engagement, multimedia package planning, interactive story design, website coding and construction, and more.

The process of evaluation was led by top leadership at RubicOnline: Director of RubicOnline Aarushi Bahadur '25, Beats Manager / incoming Director of RubicOnline Thomas Chen '26, Production Manager Greyson Sale '26, Creative Design Manager Zimo Xie '26, and Social Media Manager Mariam Malik '25. Over the course of the year, staff and adviser Kathryn Campbell presented and peer taught, built assignments and rubrics to clarify expectations, and celebrated each badge win.

Campbell said, "The teamwork has been incredible, and to see the staff cheer for every moment that an individual achievement brought us closer as a collective whole to Distinguished Site is a key part of their success. The award is an honor for everyone who works on The Rubicon: from freelance and guest contributors, staff writers, print and online editors."
