The Rubicon honored with NSPA All-American honor and four Marks of Distinction

Congratulations to The Rubicon—SPA's student newspaper—for earning the ranking of All-American with four Marks of Distinction in Coverage, Content, Visuals, and Presentation from the National Scholastic Press Association. 

The judge celebrated our students' creative ideas and professional design: "This is the strength of your publication as I see it. The infographics are really strong, probably among the best I have seen this year. You make efforts to include visual pieces for every story in the paper, most of the time there are multiple entry points to each page... you clearly understand that readers in 2022-23 want to be drawn in by visuals." In the summative comments, the judges praised The Rubicon for writing, "...a number of articles that challenge the norms. Clearly, you are hearing and listening to what is impacting your fellow students. This is one of your biggest roles and I appreciate that you are tackling [relevant and controversial] topics."
