Rubicon named Pacemaker Award finalist

Rubicon named Pacemaker Award finalist

The Rubicon, SPA’s student newspaper, has been named a Pacemaker Finalist by the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA). The paper is one of only 54 print publications from 18 states to earn the Finalist honor this year.

The Pacemaker Award is a highly selective honor that celebrates publications that not only hold themselves to a high standard as journalists but also continue to innovate in ways that model excellence for and inspire other journalism programs in the country. Pacemaker entries are judged by teams of professional journalists based on coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership, design, photography, and graphics.

Upper School Director of Publications Kathryn Campbell credits the Rubicon staff, especially Maddy Fisher '22 who as 22-23 print Editor in Chief inspired the staff "to focus on producing a quality newspaper and advocate for student press, while mentoring young journalists last year. To see the staff honored as one of the best newspapers in the country... words cannot capture it."

The Pacemaker winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in November.

Congratulations to The Rubicon staff!
