On Thursday, February 22, senior boys' basketball co-captain Mikkel Rawdon recorded a major milestone: 1,000 career points. The moment came in the second half of the game against Highland Park when Mikkel hit a layup in stride to push his scoring record to four-digits. The senior forward was able to amass over 1,000 career points in just two years on the varsity floor.
"This achievement speaks to Mikk's consistent growth and perseverance," Coach Keto says. "Mikkel began his SPA career on the C-team as a freshman, before moving up to JV as a sophomore where he got faster, stronger, and improved on defense. He also led the JV team in scoring that year and earned his teammate's vote for the most improved player of the year. He continued to push himself, improving his ball handling, his endurance, his strength, and his ability to make layups with either hand. With these improvements, he became a varsity starter as a junior and once again got the nod from his teammates as most improved. It's not surprising that after improving so rapidly two years in a row, he is now a senior co-captain, the team's leading scorer, the highest percentage Spartan shooter, and now a 1,000-point scorer. Our staff is really proud of Mikk."
