Middle School math team finish the Junior High Math League season in first and third place

SPA's Middle School math team had another successful season in the Southeast Metro Junior High Math League.

Junior High Math League takes place between September and January and each team competes in five competitions. This season, SPA's Gold team took first place overall and the Spartans blue team took third place. Individually, SPA also had six students place in the Top 10 in the division (results below).

Division Individual Results

  • First place: Theo Su '25 and Arlo Zirps '25 (tied)
  • Third place: Shefali Meagher '26
  • Fourth place: Allan Wang '26
  • Fifth place: Humza Jameel '25
  • Ninth place: Trevor Hou '26

Shout out these six top scorers who comprised the Gold Team for most of the season, as well as SPA's blue team (Rohan Kharbanda '25, Abby McKinney '26, Bora Mandic '25, Jacob Colton '25, Eli Sanders '27, and Aiden Esmaeelzadeh '27. Additional math league participants this year included: Sonia Kharbanda '26, Caden Deardurff '27, Noah Abraham '27, Naomi Glozman '27, and Ike Obi-Walker '27.

Next up for the Middle School math team is the MATHCOUNTS series, which starts with a school competition this Friday, January 29 and the South Capitol Chapter competition on Friday, February 5. Go Spartans!
