The Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA), a program of the Columbia University School of Journalism, has recognized three SPA student publications as 2022 Crown Award Finalists.
Arts magazine Iris: Art + Lit and the print/online hybrid of The Rubicon newspaper and the digital RubicOnline were honored in the program, which recognizes the nation's top student publications for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison of design, photography, concept, coverage, and writing. Overall, Iris: Art + Lit is one of 41 print literary magazine Crown Finalists and was the only Minnesota magazine named. The Rubicon/RubicOnline is one of 37 high school news hybrid finalists, and 1 of 3 Crown Finalists from Minnesota. The Finalists will learn of their final results in the competition in March 2022, when Gold Crowns and Silver Crowns will be named.
