The 2025 fall athletic season is underway and our student-athletes and coaches are gearing up for a great season! Read more below for a preview of each of our varsity teams and get ready to join us this fall to cheer on our Spartans.
Girls’ Cross Country
Coming off last season's third-place conference finish and an individual state meet appearance, Girls’ Cross Country has a lot to be excited about for the 2025 season. The team returns All-Conference performer Maren Overgaard ‘26 and All-Conference honorable mention honoree Alyda Overgaard ‘28. Captains for the 2025 season are Paloma Good ‘27, M. Overgaard, and Leah Passe ‘26.
Boys’ Cross Country
Boys’ Cross Country returns talent with IMAC experience from last season. Captains for the 2025 season include Mehmet Arey ‘26, Aldegundo Brenneman ‘27, and Trevor Hou ‘26.
Football
The SMB Wolfpack, a cooperative program between SPA, Minnehaha Academy, and The Blake School, looks forward to what should be a rebuilding year after finishing with a 1-8 record last season. The SPA captain for this season is Cutler Crook '26.
Boys’ Soccer
Coming off an exceptional 2024 season in which they captured the program's third straight State title and seventh championship overall, expectations for Spartan Boys' Soccer are high. Captains for the 2025 season are Erik Bjorgvinsson ‘27, Kiki Sullivan ‘27, and Patrick Wall ‘26.
Girls’ Soccer
It was another solid season for girls’ soccer. The team peaked at exactly the right time to power through the postseason, advancing to the State tournament for the third year in a row. At State, the girls were unseeded and fell 1-0 in the opening round in overtime to St. Charles. The team returns All-Conference honorees and captains Lucia Gonzalez ‘26, Clare Ryan Bradley ‘26, and Elizabeth Tuttle ‘26 for the 2025 season.
Girls’ Swimming and Diving (Co-Op)
The Sparks team, a co-op between SPA and Highland Park Senior High, is coming off a strong season in 2024, where they finished second in the St. Paul City Conference. The team returns All-Conference performer and state meet qualifier Avital Coleman ‘27 for the 2025 season. The lone captain for this season is Devyani Nelson ‘26.
Girls’ Tennis
Girls’ tennis spent the 2024 fall season developing individually and collectively as a team. Notable victories for the year included victories over St. Paul Central, Cretin-Derham Hall, and Breck. The team returns All-Conference honorees and captains Nellie Larson '26 and Elle Williams ‘26 for the 2025 season. Joining them as a captain is Annalise Atkinson ‘26.
Volleyball
Spartan Volleyball spent the 2024 season focusing on mastering fundamentals and establishing its rhythms as a team with big victories over St. Paul Johnson, St. Paul Humboldt, and IMAC rivals Blake and Breck. Captains for the 2025 season are Amanda Hsu ‘26, Nora McKoy ‘26, and Murphy Miltner '27.
