Erin Magnuson '21 earns Athena Award for athletic and academic achievement

Congratulations to SPA senior Erin Magnuson '21, who is the 2021 recipient of the St. Paul Area Athena Award for St. Paul Academy and Summit School. Erin is a standout athlete in both hockey and lacrosse, and was named captain for both teams during the 2020-21 season.

The Athena Awards honor and celebrate senior female student-athletes from public and independent schools in the Twin Cities for their athletic achievements. The award is based on a student's dedication, excellence, and outstanding achievement in individual and team sports. Forty-four student-athletes were recognized this year. See the full list of this year's Athena Award winners.

"Erin is an outstanding athlete and an even better human being," says Head Hockey Coach Dan Berthiaume, who describes Erin on the ice as a shutdown defenseman with great playmaking abilities. "Erin is hard-working, humble, intelligent, and caring," he says, "and she was a leader for our team both on and off the ice this season."

Congratulations, Erin!
