Athletic department connects Lower and Upper School students with new Junior Spartan Program

The SPA Athletic Office has added some new players to the roster this season: the Junior Spartans!

The Junior Spartan Program was created last winter for Lower School students in order to provide opportunities to get more involved in the Upper School athletics program, meet Upper School student-athletes, and have a fun and memorable experience as a Spartan athlete. Currently, the Junior Spartan has been implemented for basketball and soccer (boys and girls), with hopes of further expansion in the coming seasons.

As a Junior Spartan, students are gifted a t-shirt when they arrive so they can show their blue and gold pride during the event. Additionally, students are given the opportunity to sit on the bench during warm-ups, stand with the team during the national anthem and introductions, meet the team captains before the start of the game, and be on the sidelines to chase game balls. Gameday opportunities can also be modified to accommodate the varied comfort levels of the students.

If your Lower School student is interested in being a Junior Spartan this fall or spring, contact Director of Athletics Dawn Wickstrum -- Go Spartans!
