The 2024 Iris: Art + Lit Magazine has earned a National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) All-American, the highest critique award given by the organization. This is the eighth year SPA's magazine has been submitted for national critique and the eighth year it has won an All-American.
“This volume of Iris continues your tradition of excellence in publishing a literary+art magazine," the judge noted in the critique summary. "There is a wide variety of visual content with many pieces of ceramics that are beautifully designed, and the visuals allowed the designers the ability to create page after page of attractive and professional-looking spreads.”
The magazine features writing and artwork created in US Fine Arts and English classes, senior speeches, and student-submitted work.
Hadley Dobish ‘25, Iris co-Editor in Chief said, “I loved working on Be BOLD because…having bright colors in my wheelhouse allowed for so many new design and theme ideas.” With two groups working on production -- the Iris: Art + Lit student club and a small group of Ibid yearbook staff -- Hadley added, “Communication became key, and in the end, we published a magazine that I, along with everyone else, am super proud of! I'm so honored to have received this award; it's only getting me more excited for the 2025 edition!” The 2024 volume was led by co-editor in chiefs Dobish and Eliza Farley ‘24, along with club co-president Poppy Ploen ‘24.
Please join us in congratulating all of the student artists, writers, and journalists who were a part of creating the 2024 Iris: Art + Lit!
