Equity Institute: Antibias Educator Training
Hosted by St. Paul Academy and Summit School in St. Paul, Minn., The Equity Institute is an intensive annual immersion in addressing and disrupting systems of oppression in our schools. Designed primarily for K-12 educators who are looking for action plans to further conversations about racial equity in their institutions, the Equity Institute is also appropriate for individuals in higher education, nonprofits, and other organizations with an authentic commitment to recognizing and undoing historic racial injustices.
Now in its second year, the Equity Institute is an annual conference that provides teachers, school administrators, and diversity practitioners with a framework for deep conversations about the hierarchies and biases that dehumanize people. Conference sessions are a "deep dive" into the many facets of this work in our schools and workplaces; participants also spend time creating individual action plans to bring back to their institutions and organizations.
The current moment calls for a profound understanding of these issues and how they affect our schools and workplaces. Participants should be prepared for an authentic examination of their organizations’ and their own biases. Attendees will leave the conference with an even deeper commitment to exposing these biases, the tools for dismantling those systems, and a sense of joy, healing, and purpose in the work.

Drawing on her New York Times bestseller Punished for Dreaming, Dr. Love delivers a powerful examination of forty years of educational reform, revealing its profound and lasting impact on Black children who have borne the brunt of these policies. Dr. Love underscores the far-reaching consequences of these reforms, from entrenched systemic inequalities to the diminished futures they impose on marginalized students. Dr. Love then lays out a reparative path forward, center on the needs of all children, especially those most affected by historical injustices.
