An independent day school serving grades K-12 | St. Paul, MN

AntiRacist Educator BootCamp 2024

The AntiRacist Educator BootCamp is an intensive three-day immersion in addressing and disrupting systems of oppression in our schools. Designed primarily for K-12 educators who are looking for action plans to further conversations about racial equity in their institutions, BootCamp is also appropriate for individuals in higher education, nonprofits, and other organizations with an authentic commitment to recognizing and undoing historic racial injustices. Register now
BootCamp is presented by America & Moore and The Privilege Institute,
and is hosted by St. Paul Academy and Summit School.

BootCamp will provide teachers, school administrators, and diversity practitioners with a framework for deep conversations about racism, antiracism work, white supremacy, and the hierarchies and biases that dehumanize people. The conference will be anchored by three keynote speakers whose work is critical to the current conversation about antiracism in America: Dr. Jonathan Metzl, author of Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment Is Killing America's HeartlandDr. Joy DeGruy, author of Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome; and Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr., author, consultant, and founder of the Privilege Institute. Conference sessions will address the many facets of this work in our schools and workplaces, including leadership strategies around social justice and antiracism, intersectionality and identity work, and the criticality of understanding the history of race and racism in America. Participants will also spend time creating individual action plans to bring back to their institutions and organizations.

The current moment calls for a profound understanding of these issues and how they affect our schools and workplaces. During BootCamp, we will not be “snorkeling” on the surface of these conversations; we will be taking a deep dive with our scuba gear on. Participants should be prepared for an authentic examination of their organizations’ and their own biases, and to leave the conference with an even deeper commitment to exposing and dismantling the systems perpetuated by these biases.
