MISP College Fair — Sunday, September 30, 2012, 12:30–3:00 p.m. at Blake School – Hopkins Campus.
Representatives from 150 colleges and universities around the country talk with students and parents from six partner schools: SPA, Blake, Breck, Mounds Park Academy, Minnehaha, and Shattuck-St.Mary's. The MISP fair is an opportunity for students — especially seniors and juniors -— to personally meet and ask questions of the representative from each college of interest. Juniors, sophomores, and parents find the fair a great time for gathering information on many types of colleges. Many, but not all, of the MISP colleges also visit SPA individually to talk with interested juniors and seniors. Students should plan which colleges to connect with at the MISP Fair and at SPA.
College representatives visit SPA -- From mid-September through November, nearly 100 college admission representatives visit SPA for a brief presentation and Q&A with interested students. As college admission staff, they look forward to helping students expand their knowledge about the college and answer questions about the admission process. Meetings usually are informal conversations among several students and the representative. Bring questions!—and be ready to learn more about the college's programs, campus life, and admission procedures.
Seniors and juniors may attend college meetings during free periods or class periods if they have permission from the class teacher at least one full day in advance. Students who must attend a class rather than a college meeting should talk with their college counselor about how to contact the admission representative another time. The college visit schedule is posted online in Naviance Family Connection starting in late summer, as well in the daily Blue Sheet. Students should use Naviance to sign up for these college meetings.
