Openings by Grade for Fall 2017
Every year, we calculate how many openings we will have in each grade for the following fall. Our calculations are based on past trends, the number of studens currently in the grade, and other factors. Although these numbers change throughout the year, the chart below will give families a sense of how many openings may become available in a given class for the fall of 2017.
Please contact any member of the Admission staff with questions about availability in a particular grade or about our waitlist protocols for qualified applicants.
Openings by grade
KINDERGARTEN: 38-40 openings. Kindergarten classes average 18-20 students per class section, with two sections each year.
GRADES 1-5: 20 openings. Entry points in the Lower School vary by grade, but we do have openings every year in these grades and strongly encourage families to contact us about particular classes. We also strongly encourage families considering SPA for Grade 6 to consider an earlier entry, perhaps in Grade 3, 4 or 5, since these pools are generally smaller and the earlier entry helps prepare students for the Middle School.
GRADE 6: 25 openings. Grade 6 is a popular and competitive entry point at SPA. The Grade 6 program is designed in part around welcoming students in this grade to SPA and to the Middle School community; this is particularly important since all Grade 6 students, even those who attended SPA in Lower School, are new to the Randolph Campus.
GRADES 7-8: 5-10 openings. Openings vary, but we do have openings every year in Grades 7 and 8 and strongly encourage families to contact us about particular classes.
GRADE 9: 15-20 openings. Grade 9 is a popular and competitive entry point at SPA. Customarily there are 20-25 openings; for fall 2017, we anticipate approximately 15-20 spots open for the Class of 2021.
GRADES 10-12: 5-10 openings. Openings vary, but we do have limited openings every year in Grades 10, 11, and 12, and strongly encourage families to contact us about particular classes.
