SPA will be closed Tuesday, January 23, due to the snow and hazardous driving conditions. Please note that school will be closed entirely on Tuesday, including all classes, athletics, and extracurricular activities. We do not make this decision lightly. Like you, we would much prefer our students to be in school, but today’s extreme weather makes travel unsafe for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.

After School Programs
SPA offers a wide variety of after-school programming and co-curricular activities for Middle School students and their families.
After-School Program: For families who need after-school care on a regular basis, the After School Program (ASP) is a supervised program for Middle School students held every school day from 3-6 p.m. in the Middle School wing on the Randolph Campus. ASP provides a comfortable, supervised space for students to have an after-school snack with friends, do their homework, play outdoors (weather permitting), or engage in a variety of planned activities and projects. Proctors are available to help with homework, study skills, and organizational needs. ASP is available on a full-time basis or on a part-time basis; part-time enrollment is convenient for students who have other activities (such as athletic practice or play rehearsal) a few times a week but need care on other days. Drop-ins are also welcome for Middle School students who are not formally enrolled in ASP.
Athletic teams: About 80% of SPA Middle School students participate on at least one of the 17 teams open to students in Grades 6-8. Athletic practices are usually held after school 3-4 days a week, from 3:15-4:30 p.m.; times and days of the week will vary according to the team. Learn more about Middle School athletics.
The After School Drama Program offers three theatrical productions for Middle Schoolers every year: the Fall Play, the Winter Musical, and the Spring One-Acts. Rehearsals are held on the Randolph Campus after school; days and times will vary. All Middle School students are welcome to audition for any theatrical production, or to work behind the scenes on lighting, props, costumes, make-up, and stage construction. Middle School drama teacher Ed Williams Jr. directs the productions, which usually perform two shows each and are popular community events.
The Middle School Math Team is coached by a member of the Middle School math faculty and is open to all students with an interest in deepening their mathematical understanding and competing against young mathematicians from other schools. The MS Math team competes in the Southeast Metro Division of the Junior High Math League, and is historically one of the strongest teams in the region.
The Private Music Lesson program offers before- and after-school lessons for students who want to focus more time on their instrument or voice instruction. Lessons are held at the Randolph Campus; dates and times vary. Learn more about the Private Music Lesson program.
Lego League: Middle Schoolers interested in science, technology, and engineering may participate in SPA's First Lego League (FLL) program. FLL is an international robotics program designed to introduce students to aspects of engineering and to teach them valuable technical and life skills. FLL meetings are held after school and on weekends; dates and times vary.
