SPA will be closed Tuesday, January 23, due to the snow and hazardous driving conditions. Please note that school will be closed entirely on Tuesday, including all classes, athletics, and extracurricular activities. We do not make this decision lightly. Like you, we would much prefer our students to be in school, but today’s extreme weather makes travel unsafe for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.
Bryn S. Roberts
Head of School
Starting in Grade 5, students may participate in one of SPA's Lower School interscholastic athletic teams. Lower School teams compete in the Catholic Athletic Association, made up of local, mostly parochial Middle Schools that also field teams in Grade 5. Sports include soccer (girls and boys), volleyball (girls), flag football (girls and boys), basketball (girls and boys), track and field (girls and boys), softball (girls), and baseball (boys). Practices are held right after school ends for the day.
Team sports are a wonderful way for students to develop their skills to a greater level, experience competition with others of the same age and ability, and enjoy the school spirit that comes with being part of a school sports team. Upper School players will often come to the Lower School to practice with younger players, and these experiences help Lower School students understand what it means to be a Spartan at SPA. Contact Middle School Athletic Director Jay Schutte for more information.
