Overall 2017-18 enrollment: 923 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. SPA has the lowest average class size of comparable independent schools in Minnesota: Lower School classes average 13 students, Middle School classes average 15 students; and Upper School classes average 14 students. SPA awards over $3 million yearly in financial aid to our families. In 2016-17, 23% of our students received an award. The average grant covers 55% of tuition.
SPA employs a diverse and motivated group of teachers who help students mature, manage their time, and become actively involved in the process of learning. We have a well-trained and experienced faculty: our 104 teachers average 21 years of teaching at SPA and 80% hold an advanced degree beyond the baccalaureate. A sabbatical program and endowed funds for curriculum and faculty development support ongoing professional enrichment and growth for SPA teachers.
Under the guidance of three full-time professional college counselors, SPA students identify personal talents and interests and discover a range of colleges that match and engage those interests. 100% of SPA alumni/ae attend college, many at the most selective institutions in the country.
