Heather Cameron Ploen
Director of Admission and Financial Aid
Heather has been SPA's Director of Admission and Financial Aid since 2007. Heather is a veteran of independent school admission work, having previously served as Director of Admission and Financial Aid at the Dana Hall School in Massachusetts, and as a Senior Associate Director of Admission at the Holderness School in New Hampshire. Heather graduated from Colby College in Maine, and she also has a chef’s degree from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She lives in St. Paul with her husband and their daughter, who is a member of SPA's class of 2024.

Dr. Julie McGlincey ‘84
Senior Associate Director of Admission
Julie is a SPA alumna and an educator who taught Grades 2-6 in SPA's Lower School before joining the Admission staff. She is well-versed in SPA's curriculum and culture and enjoys guiding Lower School families through the admission process. Julie holds a Ph.D. in educational policy and administration from the University of Minnesota and a master’s in curriculum and instruction from the University of St. Thomas; her undergraduate degree is from Bowdoin College in Maine. SPA runs in her family: she is the mother of two recent SPA alumna, Class of 2013 and Class of 2016.

Associate Director of Admission and Financial Aid
Anne joined SPA's Admission team in 2006 after working in admission at St. Olaf College. Anne is particularly interested in making SPA accessible to all families and appreciates SPA’s commitment to a community that is diverse in socioeconomic backgrounds. Anne enjoys watching new students gain confidence and go on to thrive at SPA. She graduated from St. Olaf College with degrees in social work and family studies. In her free time, Anne enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the Twin Cities, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and enjoying every day with her husband and their three young sons.

Associate director of admission and Lower School assessment coordinator
After spending two years teaching at the Ronald McDonald House, Laurie has returned to the SPA admission office. Laurie was formerly at SPA for 25 years, teaching grades 1–3, directing the After School program, and working in the admission office. She loves meeting with prospective students and their families, and her work reflects her commitment to diversity and building strong relationships. Laurie holds a B.S. in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In her free time, she enjoys walking, reading, needlepointing, and spending time with her family. Her twin sons are graduates of SPA.
